Cinco De Mayo Fundraiser & Silent Auction

Apr 16, 2019

Dear church family, It is my honor to organize a fundraiser for the Chris and Abby DeLong family. Many of you learned a bit about their challenges as parents of a child diagnosed with vEDS when they spoke in church a few weeks ago. In July, they have the opportunity to take their son, Jonathan, to the Marfan Foundation Annual International Conference in Houston. The cost of this trip is estimated to be $3,000 but the priceless benefits will include meeting some of the top specialists in the world who will assess Jon’s health, perform testing, and put together a plan of care. Most importantly Jon will get to meet and have day camp with other kids who are just like him. Raising the full amount may require additional fundraisers, but we plan to start with lunch and a silent auction. This event is scheduled for May 5th from 11:30-1:30 in Fellowship Hall. With the help of the youth group, we will be serving tacos and nachos with rice, beans, dessert, iced tea and lemonade. If you would like to donate any of the necessary ingredients, or a dessert, there is a sign-up sheet in the back of the sanctuary. I have begun reaching out to local businesses to secure donations for the silent auction, but if you have something you’d like to donate, or are closely connected to a business who would be willing to give, please let me know. Other ways you can help include attending the event, inviting friends and neighbors to support the fundraiser, and praying that our efforts will be rewarded. Prayers for Jon’s health are always appreciated, as well! Thanks for your support! Mandy Maher, (712) 374-2351, mmaher@iastate.edu
